Coiling Containers
Another kids camp favorite. Students spend the whole week working on many different projects that yield like pieces that were made on the potters wheel, but w/out the added time of having to learn the skills involved. Common Questions:
How do we sign up?
Unfortunately we do not have internet signup available. You will need to either call or stop in to sign up. A $50 Non-Refundable deposit is due to reserve your Child's spot. We accept MasterCard/ Visa & Discover over the phone, you are also welcome to stop in, or mail in your deposit in the form of a check.
What if we cannot make glazing class?
Not a problem, your child is welcome to make the class up on other additional Fridays in the camp program when we will be glazing. We will need to know ahead of time though.
Is my 6/7 year old too young?
This can vary greatly from child to child. You know your child best, and you will have to decipher that. However I do know that if the child themselves have an excitement to do the class, then chances are they will do great. Also, if there is an older sibling with them, they tend to do well also.
What is the Student/ Teacher Ratio?
There is one main instructor w/ at least 1-2 more assistant instructors per a class of 10 students.
Who is teaching the classes?
The head of instruction will be by Michael Fillus-Sherman. Michael has been teaching pottery for going on 9 years. Michael holds a degree of secondary Art Education from Carroll College right here in Waukesha. Michael is an active member of the Waukesha Community, teaching the area youth for almost 7 years. Michael lives right here in Waukesha, with his wife Becky, and his 4 children Levi, Avi, Asher & Solomon.
What Michael has to say about the youth....
"Of all the classes taught at The Potter's Shop, the youth are definitely my favorite, no offense adults!!! It is just that this young person can so easily bring from what is within, out absent from all the frustration that years of external interpretation can bring, callusing the imaginative part of our mind as we become adults. It is a great joy and opportunity to be able to work with the children at this blossoming time of life."
What is 'Repeat Student Discount?"
If your child has taken a youth class at our facility before, then this rate applies.
